Alphason Mesh Executive Chair review

In photos the Blade Mesh Executive chair looks pretty cool, with its mesh back and chrome-finish on the arms and wheels. In the flesh, it’s not quite as pretty and the plastic chrome-effect arms, in particular, look a little bit cheap.

Fortunately, it’s very comfortable to sit on. The wide seat will take even the largest of people. It’s nicely padded and remained comfortable even at the end of a long day. We like the mesh back, as it gives you support while letting your back sink comfortably into it. To help, there’s permanent fixed lumbar support that helps keep your back at the correct angle.

We’re not massive fans of the headrest. It looks nice, but isn’t height adjustable. You can tilt it upwards, to make it reach your head more comfortably, but we can’t help thinking that the chair would better off without it.

We liked the long padded arms. They’re height adjustable, but the minimum height is quite high (a minimum of 680mm from the floor), so make sure they’ll fit underneath your desk before you buy.

You get a lot of adjustment options on this model. Tilt is built into the chair, complete with a tilt lock and tilt tensioner, so you can adjust the chair to your weight. Once you’ve got it right, the chair feels just right when you lean back to relax.

For the price, the range of adjustments you get is impressive and the seat is very comfortable. The tall arms, cheap plastic and non-removable headrest prevent it from getting full marks, though.
