If you’re looking for the most sonic bang for your buck, then look no further. Currently sat atop our list of the best wireless earbuds, the catchily named Sony WF-1000XM4 are now up to 25% cheaper than normal on Amazon as part of the company’s Prime Day celebrations.

Normally retailing for £250 a pair, you get better value if you opt for the silver buds, which have been slashed by 25%, taking them down to £187.24. If only black buds will do, you’ll pay a bit extra with the less ostentatious color scheme coming in at £199.

Whichever you opt for, you’re getting the kind of quality and feature set that audiophiles will love. In terms of sound quality, battery life, noise cancellation and comfort, the Sony’s WF-1000XM4 is a fantastic all-round package.

IPX4 water resistance and the fact that a five-minute quick charge gives the buds an hour’s worth of playtime makes these excellent earphones for gym lovers, too. Though you shouldn’t really need that quick charge given the buds and charging case should be good for 24 hours’ worth of playback.

As our own Andy White wrote in his five-star ‘Best Buy’ review, while other earbuds excel in some metrics, nothing quite delivers as well in every department as the Sonys.

“The Sony WF-1000XM4 don’t dethrone the Bose QC Earbuds as the most effective noise cancellers around, nor do they quite match the B&W PI7 for sound quality,” he wrote. “But they deliver brilliantly in both of those areas and can’t be beaten as an all-round package. They’re stylish, comfortable and crammed full of neat features and customisation options.”

Clearly these are still not a budget option, but if you’re prepared to pay a premium for quality, this is a fair price for earbuds that really do offer it all.
