Expert Reviews Sleep Awards 2025 - Lead logo

When it comes to choosing the best products to help you get a good night’s sleep, it can be a bit of a minefield out there. We’ve done the hard work for you, testing a huge range of innovative sleep products from mattresses through to pillows, heated blankets and duvets. But which products did we actually rate, and which guarantee you comfortable sleep?

In our sophomore Expert Reviews Sleep Awards, we’ll reveal the products that we felt really improved and supported our sleep. And in our Sleep Survey, we asked more than 2,000 of you to rate the comfort, durability and value for money of your mattresses, not to mention delivery experience and customer service. Below, you’ll find the results of our survey, as well as our favourite products across seven different categories, with both overall and value options included.

Read on to discover what customers really think about our eight top mattress companies, including bedding giants Dreams and Bensons for Beds, along with mattress-in-a-box companies such as Simba and Emma. If you’re looking to invest in a new mattress, these brands are a great place to start. Now, let’s get to the winners.=

Mattress Brand of the Year: Tempur

WINNER - Mattress Brand of the Year logo 2025

The famous Tempur material was first invented by NASA scientists in the 1960s before being used in the healthcare sector. The brand has since become synonymous with memory foam, which can be found in Tempur’s mattresses and other bedding products, offering a unique weightless feeling that’s attracted a huge number of fans.

Overall, the Tempur mattresses scored well over average, with 77.9% of owners happy with their purchases. This score is nearly 10% above the national average, with Tempur clearly keeping the vast majority of their customers happy. With a satisfaction score of 96.1%, it seems that Tempur beds are just as comfortable and supportive as the brand suggests.

Sold on both sides of the Atlantic, Tempur’s UK range currently consists of the brand’s entry-level Tempur One, along with three versions of the Tempur Pro: the Tempur Pro SmartCool, the Tempur Pro Plus SmartCool and the Tempur Pro Luxe SmartCool.

The only place where you might quibble at buying a Tempur is when it comes to the prices. The Tempur One mattress starts at £1,449 and prices go up to almost £4,500 for an emperor Tempur Pro Luxe SmartCool. Still, a huge 89.2% of customers thought that Tempur mattresses are excellent value for money and their impressive durability (the brand scored 88.2% in this category) makes them a worthwhile investment.

Highly Commended: Emma

HC - Mattress Brand of the Year - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

Emma earned high scores across the board but was just pipped to the post by Tempur mattresses. With an overall score of 74.1% of satisfied customers, Emma mattresses scored particularly highly for comfort and shopping experience, with an impressive satisfaction score of 93.1%.

The brand has gone through a fair amount of reinvention since it first started up, with its mattress range now consisting of four hybrids. They’re also a great pick for budget shoppers, with the Emma Hybrid Original (the brand’s cheapest mattress) starting from £260.

Most Comfortable Mattress Brand: Emma

WINNER - Most Comfortable Mattresses logo - ExR Sleep Awards 2025

As I mentioned above, Emma scored very highly for comfort: 85.6% of customers rated the brand in this category. From our experience with Emma’s mattresses, we’re inclined to agree: in last year’s Sleep Awards, we awarded the NextGen Premium (now called the Hybrid Premium) with the Best Mattress award. Emma’s hybrid mattresses offer a good combination of comfort and support, and there’s plenty of choice for hot sleepers as well, least of all the Hybrid Thermosyn Mattress (previously named the NextGen Cooling Mattress).

Highly Commended: Dreams

HC - Most Comfortable Mattresses - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

One of the big names in the bedding world, Dreams sells a huge range of mattresses from brands such as Tempur, Silentnight, Sleepeezee and more. But it also produces a variety of its own mattresses such as the Dreams TheraPur, Dreams Workshop and Dream Team ranges. The brand’s score of 77.1% for comfort is particularly impressive when you consider the breadth of its own-brand ranges.

Best Delivery Experience: Simba

ExR Sleep Awards 2025 best delivery experience logo

For the second year in a row, Simba has won the award for best delivery experience, with a customer satisfaction of 34.20%. That might not seem like an awful lot, but bear in mind it’s 15.6% over the national average.

The bed-in-a-box specialists have revolutionised the mattress industry, making it far easier for customers to get their new mattresses delivered to the door, with lengthy trial periods meaning you don’t need to go to a showroom to try them out. Simba will deliver your mattress to the front door, while its premium beds are delivered to a room of your choosing. There’s also the option to pay for this service if needed: £50 gets the mattress delivered to your bedroom, installed and all packaging removed. You can also pay a little extra to have your old mattress or bed removed.

Highly Commended: Emma

HC - Best Delivery Experience - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

Again, as with last year, Emma is our runner-up for their delivery services with a score of 28.10%. This is particularly impressive when we consider that the brand had been facing criticism for delivery delays in 2024, due to logistical difficulties and a move to a new warehouse. Judging by the improved reviews, Emma may have managed to turn things around, once again offering an excellent delivery service.

Best Value for Money: Dreams

Best value for money mattresses logo

An impressive customer satisfaction score of 80.2% makes Dreams the winner when it comes to best value for money. With such a wide range of mattresses on offer, this perhaps isn’t surprising; you can be guaranteed to find a suitable bed to sleep on, whatever your price range. Even the cheapest of Dreams’ own-brand mattresses are sold with a 100-night sleep trial, so you’ve also got plenty of time to exchange the mattress if it doesn’t suit.

Highly Commended: Silentnight

HC - Best Value for Money - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

Our value-for-money runner up, scoring 77.4% in our survey, is Silentnight: one of the most established mattress companies in the UK that has been selling beds since 1945. With mattresses on sale from £100 to £900, Silentnight has something to suit all budgets and sleeping styles. With a five-year guarantee on Silentnight mattresses and 10 years for the Just Sleep range, you’re also covered should anything go wrong.

Best Shopping Experience: Simba

WINNER - Best Shopping Experience - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

Considering that the brand also won our best delivery experience award, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Simba is also top in our best shopping experience category – 88% of customers expressed satisfaction with their experience when buying from Simba. Simba’s website is easy to navigate, with mattresses lined up alongside each other to make it easy to compare. There’s also a helpful mattress quiz to help you pick your ideal bed and delivery options are easy to choose and tweak, depending on what you require.

Highly Commended: Sleepeezee

HC - Best Shopping Experience - ExR Sleep Awards 2025

Sleepeezee has been selling mattresses for a century, and have been trusted to supply Travelodge with mattresses. It’s perhaps no surprise then that 85.9% of customers reported a positive shopping experience with the brand. On the Sleepeezee website you’ll find mattresses divided into ranges, but there’s also the option to narrow choices down by size, comfort level or by the feeling you want (for example, better back support). You can’t buy directly from the website, but a helpful tool tells you where to find your nearest store.

Most Durable Mattress Brand: Emma

WINNER - Most durable mattresses ExR Sleep Awards 2025

This award refers to how well a mattress stands up to use over time. Many mattresses can start to sag prematurely, leading to dips which can be uncomfortable for sleeping on. Of course, we recommend taking proper care of your mattress and rotating it regularly, but you still need a durable mattress that will stand up to being slept on. Emma were the narrow winners here, with 75% of customers praising the durability of the foams and coils used in the range of mattresses.

Highly Commended: Sleepeezee

HC - Most Durable Mattresses - ExR Sleep Awards 2025

Just missing out on the top spot with a score of 73.1%, well-established mattress brand Sleepeezee takes our highly commended spot for durability. With a century of experience in making beds, it’s no surprise that the brand knows a thing or two about making mattresses that last.

Best Mattress: Silentnight Premier Inn 2.0 Mattress

From £609 (single) at Premier Inn

WINNER - Sleep Product of the Year - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

If you’ve stayed at a Premier Inn recently, you might have already noted how good the Silentnight Premier Inn 2.0 mattress is. If not, this supremely comfortable and supportive mattress should be on your wish list, with it taking top spot in our best mattress category. After a little adjusting to it, we found the medium firm to firm mattress – made from a combination of springs, polyester hollowfibre and foam – extremely comfortable and supportive.

The Premier Inn mattress earned a five-star review, and a much-coveted Best Buy Award, with our tester finding little to fault. Edge support is excellent, and our reviewer never felt too hot during testing. It could be a little firm for some lightweight sleepers, but we found this a very comfortable mattress to sleep on. Plus, at only £799 for a king, it’s very well priced too.

Best Hybrid Mattress: DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress

From £375 (single) at DreamCloud

WINNER - Sleep Product of the Year - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

Hybrid mattresses are a very popular choice, and they make up a huge part of today’s bed-in-a-box market. Our winner this year is the DreamCloud Hybrid mattress, the brand’s entry-level counterpart to the slightly more expensive DreamCloud Luxury Hybrid mattress. We were impressed with the DreamCloud’s ability to suit the vast majority of sleepers, with the combination of cushioning top layers and supportive coils also helping to soothe away aches and pains.

Best Premium Mattress: Simba Earth Apex Mattress

From £1,299 (single) at Simba

WINNER - Best Premium Mattress - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

As its name suggests, Simba’s Earth mattress range puts the emphasis on natural materials, which is a notable departure for a bed-in-a-box brand whose main focus is spring and foam hybrid mattresses. It’s made from layers of wool and springs and is covered in a “plant-derived” viscose, which arguably makes for a more eco-conscious product.

Our reviewer found the Earth Apex mattress on the firmer side of things, yet still very comfortable, with impressive temperature regulation – perhaps thanks in part to wool being a natural insulator. Starting at £1,299 for a single size, this certainly is a premium mattress.

Best Value Mattress: Dreams Dream Team Romsey Mattress

From £429 (single) at Dreams

WINNER - Best Value Mattress - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

If you’re looking for a well-made and durable mattress, the Romsey from Dreams’ Dream Team range more than fits the bill. Rated firm to extra firm, we think the mattress is best suited to average and heavier sleepers who will appreciate the gentle cushioning from the foam and memory foam top layers, along with excellent support from the pocket springs beneath. We also rated the mattress highly for back support, with even lightweight back pain sufferers praising the mattress for getting rid of aches and pains. The Dream Team Romsey is also excellent value for money, with a king size coming in at £579.

Best Mattress Topper: Marks & Spencer Comfortably Cool Mattress Topper

From £69 (single) at Marks & Spencer

WINNER - Best Mattress Topper - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

If you’re looking to add a touch of soft comfort to your mattress, the Marks & Spencer Comfortably Cool mattress topper does the job fantastically, and at a good price too. Moulding round pressure points, this snuggly topper adds the perfect amount of luxe to an older mattress that might be starting to feel a little tired. Our tester was also particularly impressed by how quickly the topper bounced back into shape after a night sleeping on it. With straps to secure the topper to the bed, you won’t run the risk of it shifting during the night either.

Best Value Mattress Topper: Panda Bamboo Mattress Topper

From £100 (single) at Panda

WINNER - Best Value Mattress Topper - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

We first reviewed the Panda topper back in 2021, and it’s still one of our favourite memory foam mattress toppers. At a chunky 5cm thick, the foam does a fantastic job of contouring to pressure points and providing plenty of sink-in softness. Memory foam toppers can be notorious for trapping heat, but we found Panda’s Bamboo topper to be comfortable all year round. Partly to thank for this could be the bamboo cover: after all, bamboo is a naturally breathable and moisture-wicking material. For a foam topper this thick, it’s also very well-priced: starting at £100 for a single and rising up to £200 for an EU Emperor size.

Best Pillow: Scooms Hungarian Goose Down Pillow

From £95 at Scooms

WINNER - Best Pillow - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

The Scooms Hungarian Goose Down pillow is truly luxurious, with a 90% down outer chamber surrounded by a 300-thread count, 100% sateen cotton case. And it’s also machine washable. There’s a choice of standard or king sizes, plus you can choose between soft/medium or medium/firm feels depending on your preferences. You’ll need to plump it up regularly to keep it at its best, but this is a very comfortable and supportive pillow.

Best Value Pillow: Dusk Feels Like Down Pillow

From £47 (pair, medium firmness) at Dusk

WINNER - Best Value Pillow - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

If you love the feel of down but you struggle with allergies (or perhaps your budget doesn’t stretch to the Scooms pillow above), the Dusk Feels Like Down pillow is a fantastic affordable alternative that’s ideal for allergy sufferers. Its choice of standard or super king size along with a soft, medium or firm feel, will suit a range of different preferences. We reviewed the medium feel pillow in a standard size and found it to be very comfortable to sleep on. A pair costs £47 at full price, but there’s a good chance you can find it discounted: in fact, at the time of reviewing, a pair cost just £20.

Best Memory Foam Pillow: Otty Adjustable Pillow

From £70 at Otty

WINNER - Best Memory Foam Pillow - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

The main selling point of the Otty Adjustable pillow is, as you might expect from its name, the fact that it’s adjustable. It’s filled with shredded foam, which can be removed to achieve your desired height. It’s supportive yet plush and comfortable, and while Otty recommends the pillow to side sleepers, we also rated the pillow for front sleepers when some of the filling was removed. This is another pillow you’ll need to fluff up regularly, but the Otty is a fantastic choice for those who are fussy about their pillow’s loft.

Best Value Memory Foam Pillow: Panda Memory Foam Bamboo Pillow

From £45 at Panda

WINNER - Best Value Memory Foam Pillow - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

This is another excellent product from Panda that has stood the test of time in our experience. Unlike the Otty Adjustable Pillow above, the Panda Memory Foam Bamboo pillow is made from a solid piece of memory foam, covered with an inbuilt protector and a breathable and hypoallergenic bamboo cover.

We found the Panda pillow to be both supportive and comfortable, with a medium firmness that will appeal to a variety of sleepers. It’s great value for money as well, particularly for a memory foam pillow, and beats many of its rivals in this respect.

Best Duvet: Scooms Hungarian Goose Down Duvet

From £240 (single, 9 tog) from Scooms

According to our reviewer, Scooms’ Hungarian Goose Down Duvet “oozed quality” during testing (we had previously reviewed the all-seasons variant before trying out the nine tog duvet). It’s lightweight yet cosy, stitched together very nicely and is filled generously. Provided you don’t suffer from allergies, this down duvet is a very worthwhile investment.

Best Value Duvet: French Bedroom Down Feel Luxury Duvet

From £80 (single) from French Bedroom

WINNER - Best Value Duvet - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

If your budget doesn’t quite cover the Scooms duvet above, or perhaps you’re allergic to down, this duvet from French Bedroom is an excellent alternative. It’s one of our favourite choices when it comes to value-for-money: the fluffy down-like filling feels just like the real thing and its brushed cotton cover is lovely.

Even the storage bag it comes in feels like something you’d expect from a much more expensive duvet. It’s also machine washable (at 40°C), – we’ve laundered it twice now and it’s still maintained its shape and good looks.

Best Electric Blanket: Lakeland StaySnug Heated Throw

From £50 at Lakeland

WINNER - Best Electric Blanket - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

Our winning electric blanket isn’t actually a traditional underblanket but rather a heated throw that you can either place on top of your duvet or wrap over yourself when you’re sitting on the sofa. With a fast heat up time, the Lakeland StaySnug throw retains heat really well and has a luxurious velvety finish that feels soft against the skin. It’s lightweight enough to move around the house with ease and has a three hour auto shut-off mechanism built in, making it safe to use overnight. It’s also one of the cheaper heated throws we’ve tested, so ideal for those on a smaller budget.

Best Value Electric Blanket: Silentnight Comfort Control Electric Blanket

From £28 (single) at Silentnight

WINNER - Best Value Electric Blanket - ExR Sleep Awards 2025 logo

If you’re looking for a budget friendly electric blanket, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better option than the Silentnight Comfort Control electric blanket. This cheap and cheerful underblanket warms up quickly and provides plenty of heat to keep you warm on even the coldest of nights. It’s not the largest electric blanket on the market, but it’s an economical option and does a very good job, on a budget, of keeping your bed toasty warm throughout winter.
