Huge Google Nest Mini leak gives the game away

We’re expecting the Google Nest Mini to be unveiled at the Made by Google annual event today. The entire event has been pretty heavily leaked, and the Nest Mini is far from exempt; a new set of leaked photos released by WinFuture reveal Google’s new smart speaker in all its minuscule glory.

At first glance, there’s not much difference between the Google Nest Mini and its predecessor, the Home Mini. In fact, the first and second generations look identical in the leaked images. Flip the speaker over though, and you’ll see there’s an opening on the underside along with a second power connector. This means that you can mount the new Nest Mini on the wall, or anywhere else in your home, for the sake of convenience (and style, if that’s your thing).

To add to that, the Nest Mini will be accompanied by a 5ft long power cable with a larger 15W power supply, so it’s supposedly less of a struggle to supply electricity to the device from wherever you decide to position it on the wall. The Home Mini, by comparison, only sports a 9W power supply.

The Nest Mini is said to come in three colour editions: Coral, Charcoal and a light blue variant (speculated as either Aqua or Sky Blue) along with a Chalk edition that sports a slightly different design. The colour on the bottom half of the models will also apparently more closely resemble that of the fabric on the top.

In other news, WinFuture claims that the new smart assistant supports Bluetooth 5.0. We’re also hoping for better sound quality, considering that the improved power supply might facilitate an upgrade to more powerful hardware – although we can’t exactly spot this from the leaked images.
