HTC Titan and Radar Windows Phone ‘Mango’ devices launched
First handsets to run the new version of Microsoft's mobile OS

Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 hasn’t exactly set the UK alight, with handsets only taking a tiny percentage of UK sales, lagging far behind Android and iOS devices. However, the company is hoping that the Mango update will change this.
HTC is the first handset manufacturer to launch phones using the new version of the OS, with the Titan and Radar phones unveiled for the first time yesterday. Both phones are designed with video in mind, with dedicated camera buttons and HD video recording.The HTC Titan has a large 4.7in touchscreen displayThe Titan is the flagship handset, with a large 4.7in 480×800 touchscreen display and 1.5GHz processor. The Radar is a smaller handset with a 3.8in touchscreen, although it has the same 480×800 resolution. It has a slightly slower 1GHz processor, too.The HTC Radar is the smaller handset with a 3.8in touchscreen displayWhile the hardware looks good it’s the operating system updates that are the most important aspect, as Microsoft has introduced a slew of features designed to make Windows Phone 7 compete with Android and Apple handsets.
First up is better social networking integration, with Twitter now integrated into People Hub, so you can access your conversations from a single place. Mango also has multiple email inboxes and enhanced Office support. Web browsing has been improved. Perhaps the two stand out features are proper multitasking and copy-and-paste – features that Android and iOS already have.
The HTC Titan and Radar will ship in October, although anyone with an existing Windows Phone 7 handset will be able to get a free update to Mango in the near future.
