The iPhone Xs and Xs Max are finally here, and boy do they deliver. Apple’s top-of-the-range handsets are big, beautiful and better than ever. As ever with Apple, aesthetics are a big part of the package, and colour’s a big part of aesthetics. So what finishes are the iPhone Xs and Xs Max available in?

Unlike the multihued madness of the iPhone XR (hello blue, yellow, red, coral, white and black), Apple’s keeping things pared down and luxe for the iPhone Xs and Xs Mac. The handsets will be available in three colours: Silver, Space Grey and, for ultimate resplendence, Gold.

We’ve gone into analysis mode, bringing you everything you need to know about the available colours of iPhone Xs.

A classic beauty. The Grace Kelly of iPhone colours. You can’t really go wrong with a silver iPhone. Yes, they’re slightly more vulnerable to scuffs and scratches. But think of the style longevity! You’ll likely be touting this well into the latter half of the century.*

*Legal disclaimer: this is hyperbolic.

Like silver, but sultrier, Space Grey is just Apple’s way of saying “dark silver”. The latter proffering is exactly why I don’t work in marketing. Anyway, Space Grey is to Silver what Ryan Gosling is to Ryan Reynolds: darker, less clean-cut, ever-so-slightly more alluring, and able to raise just the right amount of eyebrow.

More “monied millennial” than “street dealer”, although, to be fair, the latter is probably less obnoxious. Don’t go buying a gold iPhone unless you’ve got some serious BDE. It takes a hell of a lot of chutzpah to pull this bad boy off.

…and that’s all, folks! Be sure to read our full coverage of the iPhone Xs and Xs Max, along with its “entry-level” counterpart, the iPhone XR.
