If you’re looking for a small TV for a bedroom or kitchen, but don’t want to miss out on features, then the 22in Samsung HS5600 (UE22H5600AK) could well be the model for you. Although its a 2014 model, the TV has built-in Wi-Fi and a smart TV portal, making it a great choice for a lot of people. But, is it really any good? This is a model of TV that Expert Reviews can’t get its hands on to test thoroughly, but advice is still important, so I’ve been through all of the user reviews and specs and features to give you this overview. Be warned, though, that this TV will look very small, thanks to its thin bezels, and if you’ve got a bit more room, a 32in TV may be a better choice.

This is a Full HD TV with a screen resolution of 1,920×1,080. Thanks to the integrated Freeview HD tuner, you’ll be able to watch high definition free-to-air broadcasts. It also means that you’ll get the best quality from any HD devices that you connect, such as games console or Blu-ray player. Don’t believe every shop, as this TV doesn’t have three HDMI inputs, only two. If you want to connect a lot of devices at the same time, you’ll need a separate HDMI switch.

Thanks to one of the HDMI ports have an Audio Return Channel (ARC), you can hook this TV up to a compatible soundbar or speaker system using a single HDMI cable, but get the sound through your better speakers.

This TV has Samsung’s Smart TV Hub, providing access to most of the common services that you could want, including Netflix, Amazon Prime Instant Video, BBC iPlayer, All 4, ITV Hub and Demand 5. With built-in Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port on the back, you’ll have no trouble hooking it up to your existing network to get the apps to work. You may need to upgrade the TV’s firmware to make everything work properly, though.

Owners are reporting that the TV isn’t shipping with the latest firmware, with the bundled version causing problems with Netflix, and the TV not remembering your details. Unfortunately, the TV doesn’t automatically update to the latest version, so you have to do the job manually. From a computer, go to the Samsung UE22H5600AK TV page, click support and download the Upgrade File (USB type) update. Extract the file (double-click it) and copy the firmware update file to a USB drive. Once copied, insert the USB file into a port on your TV and go to Settings, Manual software update and select Yes when prompted if you want to install the file on the USB file. Once done, you’ll be able to use Netflix properly.

This TV scores highly with people that have bought it, with an average of 4.5 stars. The combination of features and price make it a real winner for anyone that wants a fully-featured, but small TV. Picture quality is good for the price, and you’ll be happy with the results.
